At Christmas I made my first few gifts for loved ones, including a cushion for Baby A. With the daughter of a friend having her first birthday I thought it's about time I stepped it up a little!
This lovely bib pattern from Nested offered the perfect solution. I made it in a lovely Beatrix Potter fabric picked up from Ebay (I love Beatrix Potter!).
Just a little tip if you're thinking of making this bib yourself - don't forget to clip the curves as it's not mentioned in the instructions!
What do you think? I've got no photos of her wearing it. She was completely freaked out by the whole thing and burst into tears! I'm still not sure it even fits, or if she's too old for one... Never mind, I imagine any future little sproglets might need one at some point ;)
I'm developing my dressmaking and sewing skills from nothing in 2011 to a few pieces here and there. I've enjoyed learning so far as it's allowing me to express my artistic side and create clothes that match my style!

JJ and I
After a lot of blood, sweat and tears of frustration JJ is now done! I've mentioned the fabric before, but the buttons are silver heart shaped ones from Coats, aren't they lovely? I bought them at HobbyCraft.
I'm so relieved that it's finished, and in the end I think it looks pretty nice, though there are a few little issues: strange collar creasing, bust straining etc. But given that it was a real nightmare to make I can cope!
I've worn the shirt for university and a couple of meals out so far, both times with jeans. I'd love any suggestions you have about how to style it up!

Fabric shops in the UK
I've been inspired by a fellow blogger (wish I could remember who!) to create a map of fabric shops that I've visited. The aim is to help jog my memory, and offer a service to anyone who happens across my blog. I aim to add reviews too, where I can / have time etc.

Mainly I'll focus on the UK, but if I get to visit elsewhere, I will of course add these on!
Please recommend any other stores and I'll visit if I'm passing by.
